On a night walk during Durga Puja in Kolkata, I notice this man sitting on the sidewalk, preparing to smoke a chillum. As I squat down near him, he tell me his name. I forgot the first name, but the last name “Sabri” stuck with me. He is related to the famous qawwali performers Sabri Brothers, he said and prepares to sing a qawwali for me.

The picture was taken as Sabri sings along a qawwali being played on his broken music player as he strums his guitar.
